{"id":541192,"date":"2023-07-29T20:50:54","date_gmt":"2023-07-30T02:50:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging-7b2a-cerebrodigitalnet.wpcomstaging.com\/correr-podria-reducir-el-riesgo-de-enfermedad-de-parkinson-segun-un-estudio-eacr\/"},"modified":"2023-07-29T20:56:37","modified_gmt":"2023-07-30T02:56:37","slug":"running-could-potentially-reduce-risk-of-parkinsons-disease-study-finds-eacr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-7b2a-cerebrodigitalnet.wpcomstaging.com\/en\/running-could-potentially-reduce-risk-of-parkinsons-disease-study-finds-eacr\/","title":{"rendered":"Running could potentially reduce risk of Parkinson\u2019s disease, study finds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A new study reveals the impact of running can extend beyond the body and could help prevent Parkinson\u2019s disease, a neurological condition that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox9.com\/news\/running-could-reduce-risk-parkinsons-disease.amp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">affects balance<\/a> and coordination and can cause involuntary movements like stiffness and shaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a study published in the journal Science Advances, Italian researchers say intensive exercise, including running on a treadmill can stimulate the production of a brain protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein critical for the survival and growth of the brain, according to Study Finds, a research and science journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team monitored an increase in BDNF levels in the brains of animals with early-stage Parkinson\u2019s disease after daily treadmill exercise for four weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the report, BDNF enhances the brain\u2019s ability to reorganize and adapt, a key for learning and memory. BDNF can also reduce the spread of pathogens linked to Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Paolo Calabresi, corresponding author and neurology professor at the Rome Campus of the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, said in a media release:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have discovered a never observed mechanism, through which exercise performed in the early stages of the disease induces beneficial effects on movement control that may last over time even after training is suspended&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group&#8217;s research could lead to new non-drug medical treatments to
