The second full Moon of August will be a Supermoon and a Blue Moon, coinciding with the closest and brightest appearance of Saturn this year.

A Blue Moon is the second full Moon in a month, while a Supermoon is when the full Moon is near its perigee, or the closest point to Earth in its orbit. This event will take place from August 30 to September 1, 2023.
The term “Blue Moon” does not refer to the color, but there was a historical case where the moon appeared blue due to volcanic ash in the atmosphere from the eruption of Krakatoa in 1883. This event also coincides with the Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan, which celebrates the bond between siblings.
Saturn and Mars will be visible alongside the Supermoon, while on the morning of August 31, Jupiter and Venus will be visible in the sky.
